What is Transpersonal Arts Counselling?
MY THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
Transpersonal Arts Counselling is grounded in the idea that "transpersonal" means going beyond the personal—integrating the mental, emotional, physical, and, where important for you, spiritual aspects of well-being. This holistic approach considers the whole person, recognising that genuine well-being emerges from nurturing all these interconnected areas of life, supporting the harmony between your inner and outer worlds.

Transpersonal Arts Counselling offers a unique artistic approach through the dual use of art media—both expressive and impressive. The expressive aspect allows you to delve into and convey your emotions, thoughts, somatic sensations, and pressing themes. It serves as a visual method of externalising what might otherwise remain internalised.

On the other hand, the impressive use of art media focuses on the inherent qualities of the materials or specific exercises. These can impart their essence onto you as you engage with them, helping you feel more grounded, uplifted, calm, centred, and less scattered.

In my counselling practice, I adopt an integrative approach, drawing on techniques and tools from various modalities to create a personalised plan that addresses your unique needs and therapeutic goals.

TRANSPERSONAL ARTS COUNSELLING
(Unabridged Definition)
“Transpersonal Arts Counselling embraces imaginal elements of the creative approach as a rich healing opportunity. All aspects of our being are addressed equally, spiritual, social, intellectual, emotional, physical and creative to help heal and grow. Key to the approach is the awareness of how art and the human encounter can transform self and others in personal, cultural and spiritual ways.
In Transpersonal Arts Counselling clients are offered hands on image making activities and dialogue. The counsellor initiates or supports a process of recovery, improvement or acceptance in the client’s condition. There is communication between the counsellor and the client throughout the processes with regard to the counselling itself and the impact on the client.” (Tobias School of Art and Therapy)
